Our Family is Complete!!

Our boys are here and we couldn't be happier!!  They kind of took us by surprise since we really thought they were going to make it to their scheduled c-section date on the 17th.

On Tuesday night I was having my normal contractions that I have had for weeks that never resulted in anything and were sporadic and would stop once I would lay down.  I will admit that I was ready for the boys to come even though we hadn't hit the full term mark of 37 weeks because I was so uncomfortable!  Carrying nearly 12 pounds of baby is not an easy task!  Anyway, I just jokingly told Eric he better get some sleep tonight because we would be in the hospital the next day.  Well, the babies must have been listening.  I woke up a little after 2:00 a.m. to baby A(Will) kicking so hard.  I remember thinking that he was kicking so hard he was going to break his bag of water.  Well, sure enough, one more big kick at 2:20 a.m. and I felt a pop! Eric woke up out of dead sleep with me saying, "Oh my gosh!  My water just broke!  My water just broke!"  Eric jumped out of bed and ran into the closet, back into the bedroom, into the bathroom, into the closet and back again.  I kept asking for a towel.  I guess he forgot where we kept those. ;) I wasn't really having contractions so we gathered all the our stuff and got in the car.  We got to the hospital about 3:10 and went up to admitting.  My contractions were picking up and we were in a room by 3:20.  They did an ultrasound and I was hoping and praying these little babies had flipped head down.  However,  no one cooperated and both were still breech.  C-section was inevitable!

I will have to say that after having three unmedicated births, I would much rather go through that pain than going through surgery.  I thought it was very scary and overwhelming.  The hospital staff was incredible and really the c-section could not have gone better.  We went into the operating room about 4:40 and by 5:00 a.m. the babies were born!

Baby A:  William Luke Hensley
born at 4:58 a.m. 9/7/11 weighing 6 pounds exactly and measuring 19 3/4 inches long.

Baby B: Benjamin Eric Hensley
born in the exact same minute 4:58 a.m. on 9/7/11, weighing 5 pounds 7 ounces and also measuring 19 3/4 inches long.

Proud Mommy and Daddy!

Loved reading all about their birthday, Amy!! Thank you SO much for sharing with your friends and family, and I couldn't be happier for you, Eric, Andrew, Ella and Elizabeth to welcome Will and Ben to the family!! They are so precious!! So thankful they are here safe and sound, and praying that you heal quickly from the surgery. I had a c-section with my first and the last 2 naturally, and I couldn't agree more! I'd take the natural over the surgery ANY day!! Miss you terribly, and hope to catch up with you more soon!
Hugs,
Patty
